Public Utility

NCL may be a rare disease, but in Germany alone there are currently living about 450 infected children. One in 40,000 newborns has NCL - with 750,000 births per year that are 15 new "cases". Each of those children has to face a indescribably gruesome path of life which will end at about 25 years of age; with helpless escort of parents and friends.
On these grounds the Hamburg senate acknowledges the public utility of the foundation.  This status is required for donations to be tax-deductible.
