Pharmaceuticals companies as a partner for cooperation

The NCL-Foundation aims to enter cooperations with companies (e.g. from the fields pharma and biotechnology) and to develop a potent form of therapy against NCL. Such a cooperation means a new, almost unrivalled assignment with a high prestige to the company because only very few company invest in the research in the sector of rare diseases.

By elevation of NCL studies concerning an already existing medicine from related fields of applications and/or new, similar substances a new area of indication could be found. Due to the then possible "orphan drug status", many advantages arise: exclusive marketing rights for the area of indication, partial or complete release of admission fee and a fastened admission. Furthermore, a "niched research" can deliver new starting-points in the treatment of widespread diseases like Alzheimer and Parkinson and consequently can be of commercial interest.
