Students

Our programmes, Biology up-to-date and Profilabitur already enjoy great popularity in schools. In the future, we would like to include this content in university lectures. It is not only important to inform trained medical professionals on the childhood dementia NCL, but also medical students, who are budding doctors. Apart from medical professionals, we also teach scientists, who can actively promote research on the illness. Additionally we offer students of Business, Non-Profit-Management and Social Economics, the chance to research their bachelors or masters thesis within our organisation.

Upcoming Events

At the moment there aren’t any events planned. We are always open to suggestions. Don’t be afraid to share your ideas with us, therefore helping us to spread the word about NCL within universities.

Jobs Information Seminar at the Bernhard-Nocht-Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg

30th May 2013: The Jobs Information Seminar entails a series of lectures about jobs in different scientific disciplines, for PhD Students from the Bernhard-Nocht-Institute for Tropical Medicine. Possible professions to pursue upon completion of a doctorate are introduced and explored here.

Dr Frank Stehr illustrated the demands and challenges that are brought with the position of chairman and leader of research with the NCL Foundation.

Case Presentation at University Hospital Lübeck

In May 2013, the NCL Foundation was able to provide some information to medical students in Lübeck. As part of a case presentation on human genetics at the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, about 200 students listened to a talk given by Ms Daniela Boy-Hübner and Dr. Frank Stehr. While affected mothers described the progress of the disease with which their children were suffering from, the chairman of the NCL explained the medical part. It wasn’t only Prof. Gabrielle Gillessen-Kaesbach, expert in Human Genetics, who eagerlyasked questions to those giving the talks, but also the students who were present. This kind of event made it possible for doctors-to-be, to get information direct from the experts of the disease, which was presented before them.
